The Pelton turbine, invented in 1878 by Lester Pelton is known as an “impulse turbine”, since it harnesses Kinetic energy from slowing water down.
Pelton runners are put in motion by one or more high-pressure water jets that hit the buckets right in their middle part called “splitter”. Thus, the jet is split in 2, distributing pressure uniformly on the whole bucket’s surface, generating a rotary motion.
Pelton turbines are among the most efficient turbines, reaching outputs of up to 95%. They are usually installed in sites with high head and are capable of working both horizontally and vertically.

Thanks to our experience and lean model of production we have reached excellent levels of accuracy: the great majority of wheels we balance do not require any additional material removal, thus saving precious lead time and guaranteeing top-notch wheel quality, as well as a longer expected lifetime.

If needed by the customer, we can supply a template kit for dimensional control.
Carefully manufactured for top-tier efficiency, our Peltons are all made from a single steel block. We purchase premium alloys like 1.4313 and 1.4417 from our trusted European partners, ensuring compliance with the strictest acceptability levels.
Apart from the turbines themselves, if needed, we supply components like nozzle flanges and spears/nozzle tips.
Depending on the situation, our Peltons can be surface coated (ex: Tungsten carbide) to further increase the toughness of parts most effected by wear like the middle part of the buckets.
In case of air or rail shipment, we provide special anti-rust packaging to avoid turbine oxidation.
Every Pelton runner that comes out of our factory is of the highest quality grade and comes with a 3D dimensional report certificate, along with a standard dimensional report and an NDT certificate

NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING
Every turbine manufactured undergoes NDT testing: a series of tests to check a products’ structural integrity, welding defects and surface cracks.
DYNAMIC AND STATIC BALANCING
Turbine’s balance is essential, and it must be tested still and in motion to point out asymmetries and undistributed weight that might stress the bearing, thus increasing the wheel’s expected lifespan.
High quality welding is performed by our skilled and experienced operators.
Should the project require it, thermal treatment is carried out by our external partners.
The CNC-worked surfaces are flattened and refined through manual polishing.
